Many people will be familiar with the famous English saying „What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind“. According to the so-called „strict reduction approach“ in physics, i.e. physical reductionism or materialism, human consciousness and thinking can be traced back to purely material causes. For example, to the material level of the brain, its complex neuronal „wiring“ or to the complicated biochemical and -electrical processes in our thinking organ. However, this assertion cannot be upheld; research has shown that there must be something that goes beyond the purely material. But what? Since quantum physics is the most accurate and comprehensive „theory of matter“ to date, there is no way around it if you want to explain „mind“ or „consciousness“. In this book, the author explains why it is possible to combine ancient religious and mystical ideas about the origin of the universe with the findings of modern quantum physics and thus arrive at fascinating natural and existential philosophical questions about our spirit and the cosmos we inhabit.
